Erika Kirk Suffers One Heck Of A “Slip of the Tongue” Live On Stage At AmFest

Look folks, I’m not here to pick on Erika or nitpick every little detail.

In fact, I’m trying to ignore as many as I can.

I get it…she’s probably exhausted and worn out and we all make mistakes.

But this one is really something.

This is one of those things where if you write it into a movie script it would probably get rejected for being way too obvious.

And yet, as Elon Musk says “fate loves irony” and the most interesting outcome is usually the most likely.

That’s definitely what we got today.

GRIFT.

GIFT.

GRIT.

TRANSCRIPT:

Despite the devastating loss of Charlie Kirk, my incredible husband at UVU, Caleb has persisted with the same grift.

Excuse me, gift.

GRIT!

It has been a long day. Trust me, you’re not a grifter, honey.

It’s all good.

YIKES!

Definitely one heck of a slip of the tongue.

I know, she’s just tired and slipped up and most of us would do the same trying to stand up there on that stage.

I get it.

I also know the Bible says in Matthew 12:34 — “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”

So that one was bad, but there’s actually another Erika clip the Internet is obsessing over even more than this today…

At first I didn’t think there was anything to see here, but the more I’ve thought about it it does seem very odd and out of place.

So the thing everyone is latching onto is the word “once” is really a forward-looking, expectant word:

Allow me to explain…

If we’re on a road trip and I say “once we arrive in California, we’ll go right to the beach” — that implies we all are expecting at some point in the near future to arrive in California and then we know we’ll go to the beach.

Another: “once the timer goes off, I’ll take the cookies out of the oven.”  An expected future event.

Now this:  “Once Charlie was assassinated, it was proven all the more.”

Hmmm.

Again, probably just a bad choice of words but it does raise some eyebrows.  And it’s not just me:

The whole debate is even trending right now on X:

Definitely a “non-standard” choice of words….but maybe just normal?
