BREAKING: Supreme Court Responds to Gov. Greg Abbott’s Emergency Petition to REMOVE Runaway Democrat Leader

This just in: the Texas Supreme Court has responded to an emergency petition filed by Gov. Greg Abbott seeking the removal of Democrat State Rep. Gene Wu.
Rep. Gene Wu is the chair of the Democratic Caucus and was the ringleader who orchestrated the scheme to flee the state in order to prevent a vote on redistricting.
The Texas Supreme Court has just given Rep. Wu a deadline to respond to Gov. Abbott’s lawsuit.
Gov. Abbott announced:
Things are moving very quickly.
Gov. Abbott proved that he was not just making empty threats when he called for the dozens of Democrats who fled the state to break quorum to lose their seats and face felony charges.
Today, he followed through by filing this emergency petition:
Notably, Gov. Abbott bypassed the lower courts and went straight to the Texas Supreme Court to boot these bozos from office.
Specifically, he is invoking Section 22 of the Texas Constitution in order to remove these runaway, rogue Democrats from their position immediately.
He clarified in a post on X:
To be clear, the lawsuit I filed today seeks relief directly from the Supreme Court based on authority of the Texas Constitution, Section 22 of the Government Code & Supreme Court precedent.
I am not seeking relief from a trial court under Chapter 66 of the Civil Practice & Remedies Code.
The runaway Democrats must be held accountable immediately.
This letter is filed with the Texas Supreme Court to make clear the authority I have to bring this lawsuit.
Voters deserve to have someone in office who actually shows up to represent them — not these cowards who abandon their post under pressure.
Gov. Abbott argues that this stunt Democrats pulled to block quorum effectively counts as the forfeiture of their seats.
The Texas Tribune has more:
In his legal filing, Abbott argued that amounts to an abandonment of office and is sufficient grounds to have Wu’s seat vacated.
“What is at stake here? Nothing less than the future of Texas,” Abbott wrote. “If a small fraction of recalcitrant lawmakers choose to run out the clock today, they can do so for any, and every, Regular or Special Session, potentially bankrupting the State in an attempt to get their way.”
Wu argued that denying a quorum “was not an abandonment of my office,” but “a fulfillment of my oath” of office to abide by the Constitution.
“When a governor conspires with a disgraced president to ram through a racist gerrymandered map, my constitutional duty is to not be a willing participant,” Wu said in a statement, in which he accused Abbott of seeking to “silence my dissent by removing a duly-elected official from office.”
For his part, ringleader Rep. Wu argues he was actually “fulfilling his oath” by abandoning his seat, fleeing the state, and preventing a session from being held in order to vote on important legislation.
NBC News reported on Rep. Wu’s response:
Wu said in a statement Tuesday evening that he was not abandoning his duties.
“Let me be unequivocal about my actions and my duty. When a governor conspires with a disgraced president to ram through a racist gerrymandered map, my constitutional duty is to not be a willing participant,” Wu said.
“Denying the governor a quorum was not an abandonment of my office; it was a fulfillment of my oath. Unable to defend his corrupt agenda on its merits, Greg Abbott now desperately seeks to silence my dissent by removing a duly-elected official from office,” he added.
Let’s see what the Texas Supreme Court thinks about all that…
Things could get very interesting.
