DEVELOPING: US Base on Lockdown, ‘Separate’ Active Shooter Incidents Indicated [UPDATE]

News is breaking that an active shooter situation has been declared for the Fort Stewart military base.
The entire base is on lockdown, and “multiple casualties” are being reported during the early stages of information — but please keep in mind how that early information can change once details become more clear.
At the moment it is being confirmed that the active shooter situation at the base in Georgia is still active.
Casualties are being reported, though the number and severity is not known at this time.
The Fort Stewart Airfield shared this update on it’s Facebook page following the lockdown order:
Here’s the full text of that update:
Fort Stewart is in a lockdown status due to an active shooter incident in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area. The installation was locked down at 11:04 a.m. and law enforcement is on the scene at the time.
Casualties have been reported and the situation is ongoing.
Fox News issued this breaking news report just a short time ago, emphasizing the ongoing nature of the “threat assessment” currently taking place:
There have reportedly been a number of soldiers already transported to area hospitals according to the New York Post:
Fort Stewart has been placed on lockdown after the Georgia US Army base’s commander reported an active shooter, and announced five soldiers had been taken to the hospital so far.
The lockdown began at 11:04 a.m. in areas of the base including Wright and Evans Army Airfield and the Fort Stewart Schools, with officials advising those on site to remain indoors and close and lock all windows and doors.
Fort Stewart is the largest US Army installation east of the Mississippi River, covering some 280,000 acres (437 square miles, about 93% the size of New York City) in southeast Georgia, and serving as home to the 3rd Infantry Division as well as a training area for a number of other military units.
This video was shared on X showing the moment the lockdown was declared as soldiers go into protocol for these types of scenarios:
Early reporting from Newsweek indicates there may be more than one incident ongoing simultaneously.
That has led to the usual questions concerning a possible “second shooter” or even a more comprehensive attack than just a single shooter incident — but that is only speculative at this time.
As we have seen in many cases that often turns out not to be the case once the dust settles.
Here’s that report, including their corroborating statement on casualties being reported and the report on scanner traffic, just issued by Newsweek:
The situation remains fluid, with casualties confirmed and law enforcement actively responding across multiple locations on the installation.
What to Know:
- Fort Stewart is under lockdown after reports of at least one active shooter in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area.
