EYE-WITNESS: Frank Turek Shares What Happened The Instant Charlie Kirk Was Hit — “He Was Looking Past Me…”

Frank Turek, who was close with Charlie Kirk, offered a firsthand account of what happened the instant Kirk was shot. Turek described how they loaded Kirk into an SUV immediately after the shooting, with Kirk’s security team and close friends reacting in panic. As the vehicle sped toward the hospital, Turek says Kirk was “laid out right in front of me” in a way that conveyed how severe the wound was.

Inside the vehicle, Turek said he could tell something was wrong almost immediately. Kirk’s eyes were fixed—not looking at anyone, but “looking past me, right into eternity.” Turek said Kirk appeared already gone, saying he believed he felt no pain.

They drove for roughly four miles to a hospital, with Turek praying and hoping for a miracle. At one point, people inside considered giving CPR. Although medical staff briefly restored a faint pulse (attributed to Kirk’s strong health), Turek said the doctors later confirmed the gunshot had been catastrophic.

Turek also spoke about the emotional aftermath and urgency of the moment. He said that the people with Kirk—his security team, friends, everyone—were acting out of love and desperation. Turek himself saw Kirk like a son and said he was doing everything he could in those final moments.
