President Trump Gives ULTIMATUM to Big Pharma In Major Step to Reduce Drug Prices

President Trump just took a major step towards reducing drug prices for millions of Americans.

For decades, Americans have been forced pay, on average, three times more for the same medicines that people in other countries get much cheaper.

Now, President Trump is demanding change.

He sent letters to 17 Big Pharma companies presenting them with an ultimatum: either reduce drug prices for Americans now, or we’ll force you to using every tool in the book available.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt read out-loud one of those letters (addressed to Eli Lilly) during today’s press conference:

President Trump shared copies of every single letter he sent to pharmaceutical company CEOs on Truth Social.

Check it out:

This all follows President Trump signing an order — the “Most Favored Nation” Executive Order — in May that aimed to make drug prices in American and overseas equal.

Forbes broke down the contents of the letters:

Trump listed his demands in letters to over a dozen pharmaceutical companies including AbbVie, Pfizer, Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly.

The president’s demands revolve around his “most-favored-nation” drug pricing policy, which seeks to slash U.S. drug prices to the lowest prices paid in other developed countries.

Trump asked the pharmaceutical companies to make their existing drugs available at “most-favored-nation” rates for all Medicaid patients and to guarantee “most-favored-nation” pricing for newly-launched drugs.

He also demanded the companies take “increased revenues” made in other countries and repatriate them to lower drug prices for American patients.

The president’s final ask demands the pharmaceutical companies apply “most-favored-nation” pricing for direct-to-consumer prescription drugs.

Trump said his administration will “deploy every tool in our arsenal” to slash drug prices if the companies do not meet the 60-day deadline

Along with Eli Lilly, Fox Business provided the list of other companies that received letters from President Trump:

Sixteen other companies received similar letters from Trump. They were: AbbVie, Boehringer Ingelheim, Bristol Myers Squibb, Novartis, Gilead Sciences, Inc., EMD Serono, Pfizer, Novo Nordisk, AstraZeneca, Amgen, Genentech, Johnson & Johnson, GSK, Merck, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, and Sanofi. Several of the letters showed the CEO’s last names crossed out and written in their place, their first names, suggesting a personal touch to the president’s demands to the Big Pharma heads.
