Dark Past Exposed: Brutal Hazing Allegations Against Jon Hamm Resurface After Decades

Actor Jon Hamm, famed for his role as Don Draper in Mad Men, is once again under the spotlight after old hazing allegations from his college days resurfaced this week.

The British outlet Daily Mail published a deep-dive report on Tuesday revisiting disturbing accusations from Hamm’s time at the University of Texas in the early 1990s. The claims center around Hamm’s involvement with the Sigma Nu fraternity, where he was reportedly an active member.

According to the report, Hamm participated in violent hazing rituals that allegedly left one fraternity pledge seriously injured. The victim reportedly suffered a fractured spine and nearly lost a kidney during a 1990 incident.

One of the most shocking claims alleges that Hamm set the pledge’s belt loop on fire, causing flames to spread across his jeans. Even more alarming, Hamm is accused of dragging the pledge by his genitals using a claw hammer during the hazing ordeal.

Daily Mail stated that after publishing the story, they reached out to Hamm for comment. The actor, annoyed that they contacted him directly rather than through his representatives, called the move “inappropriate” and declined to discuss the allegations further. Hamm pointed out that these accusations were decades old and emphasized he had no desire to revisit the events.

This isn’t the first time Hamm has addressed the controversy. In a 2018 Esquire interview, he downplayed the reports, saying, “I wouldn’t say it’s accurate,” and described the situation as “sensationalized.” He admitted it was “a bummer of a thing that happened,” but stressed that he was “essentially acquitted” and never convicted of any crime.

At the time of the incident, Hamm had faced assault charges linked to the hazing but those charges were ultimately dropped. No criminal conviction was recorded against him.

The resurfaced allegations have sparked online discussions, with some calling for Hamm to face consequences. However, beyond his brief remarks to the Daily Mail, Hamm has not issued any formal public statement.

Despite the controversy, Hamm remains active in Hollywood, with recent roles in major projects like Top Gun: Maverick and the TV series Fargo.
