JD Vance Shocks Fox News Viewers With Trump-as-Dem-Leader Remark

Vice President JD Vance made headlines with a bold claim during an appearance on Fox News’ Special Report with Bret Baier. When asked if Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez might become the new face of the Democratic Party, Vance responded with humor and a surprising perspective.

“President AOC — that’s nightmare fuel, Bret. Thanks a lot, now I won’t sleep,” he joked, before turning serious.

Vance went on to say that if anyone could be considered the leader of the Democratic Party, it would actually be former President Donald Trump. His reasoning? The Democrats, in his view, have no consistent vision or leadership of their own — instead, they simply react emotionally and oppose anything Trump does.

He pointed out examples like Trump’s push to revive American manufacturing and raise wages for steelworkers, or his stance on deporting violent undocumented immigrants — policies that, according to Vance, should be hard to oppose, yet Democrats always seem to do so reflexively.

“They don’t lead — they just react,” Vance said, adding that this lack of original ideas or direction is why he’s not worried about the Democrats’ chances in 2028. If they ever develop a serious governing agenda, that would be a welcome change, he suggested — but until then, their politics will remain, in his words, “just anti-Trump.”
