Macron’s ‘Bag of Cocaine’ Truth Revealed? France Blasts Russian Disinformation Plot

A bizarre claim involving French President Emmanuel Macron has recently caught the attention of social media users. The story has triggered swift reactions from officials and observers across Europe.
European leaders have pushed back strongly against a wave of misinformation aimed at undermining their joint diplomatic visit to Ukraine. The controversy began during a high-level train journey from Poland, where officials were en route to discuss solutions to the ongoing conflict with Russia.
French President Emmanuel Macron became the center of attention after social media posts falsely accused him of hiding a bag of cocaine during a group photo. The claim, which rapidly spread across pro-Russian channels, was based on a short video clip showing Macron briefly handling an item on a table—later confirmed by French officials to be nothing more than a tissue.
The French government quickly denounced the viral narrative as a deliberate disinformation attack. In a statement, the Élysée Palace highlighted how such fabrications are often used to disrupt European unity, stating, “When European unity becomes inconvenient, disinformation goes so far as to make a simple tissue look like drugs.”
Well-known figures on X, including Joey Mannarino, Dinesh D’Souza, and Alex Jones, amplified the baseless rumors, suggesting the leaders were engaged in drug use. These claims, however, were firmly rejected by French authorities, who pointed to them as clear examples of coordinated propaganda.
The train trip was part of a vital mission involving leaders from France, Britain, Germany, Poland, and Ukraine, focused on securing a potential 30-day ceasefire and urging Russian President Vladimir Putin to come to the negotiating table. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also spoke out, calling on Putin to demonstrate sincerity about peace efforts.
The Kremlin initially dismissed the diplomatic push as confrontational but later signaled some openness to discussions. Meanwhile, the United States has continued to strengthen its relationship with Ukraine, including agreements on strategic resources.
President Macron stressed that any ceasefire violations would bring serious consequences, warning that the West was ready to implement new, coordinated sanctions if necessary.
